GYMNASTIC LEVELS

LEVEL 1 VAULT REQUIREMENTS
Level 1 gymnasts must perform the following vault:
• Stretch jump onto mat and then kick to handstand and fall to flat back
LEVEL 1 BARS REQUIREMENTS
Level 1 gymnasts must perform a bar routine with the following skills:
• pullover
• cast
• back hip circle
• sole-circle dismount OR underswing dismount
LEVEL 1 BEAM REQUIREMENTS
Level 1 gymnasts must perform a beam routine with the following skills:
• jump to front support mount
• arabesque to 30 degrees
• lever
• stretch jump
• cartwheel to 3/4 handstand dismount
LEVEL 1 FLOOR REQUIREMENTS
Level 1 gymnasts must perform a floor routine with the following skills:
• 3/4 handstand
• cartwheel
• backward roll
• forward roll
• split jump with 30 degree leg separation
The next gymnastics level after Level 1 is Level 2.

LEVEL 2 VAULT REQUIREMENTS
Level 2 gymnasts must perform the following vault:
• jump to handstand on mat stack and fall to flat back
LEVEL 2 BARS REQUIREMENTS
Level 2 gymnasts must perform a bar routine with the following skills:
• pullover
• cast
• back hip circle
• leg cut
• forward side circle, also called mill circle
• single leg basket swing
• squat on to pike sole-circle dismount OR underswing dismount
LEVEL 2 BEAM REQUIREMENTS
Level 2 gymnasts must perform a beam routine with the following skills:
• jump to front support mount
• arabesque to 30 degrees
• lever
• 1/2 pivot turn
• stretch jump
• cartwheel to side handstand dismount
LEVEL 2 FLOOR REQUIREMENTS
Level 2 gymnasts must perform a floor routine with the following skills:
• handstand (must be held for 1 second)
• round-off
• backward roll
• bridge back kick-over
• split leap with 60 degree leg separation
• 90 degree heel snap turn
• split jump with 60 degree leg separation
The next gymnastics level after Level 2 is Level 3.
LEVEL 3 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: VAULT
• handstand flat back onto mat stack
LEVEL 3 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BARS
• pullover*
• front hip circle
• single leg squat through
• forward stride circle (mill circle) or single leg basket swing
• back hip circle
• underswing dismount
LEVEL 3 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BEAM
• handstand
• leap with 90 degree split
• straight jump
• side handstand dismount*
LEVEL 3 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: FLOOR
• split jump
• handstand forward roll
• handstand to a bridge kickover
• leap with 90 degree split
• backward roll to a pushup position
• round-off back-handspring*
Once a gymnast can perform all of these skills and she has learned the Level 3 gymnastics compulsory routines, she is ready to compete in a Level 3 meet. The next gymnastics level is Level 4.

LEVEL 4 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: VAULT
• front handspring
LEVEL 4 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BARS
• straddle or pike glide kip
• cast to horizontal
• squat on
• long hang kip
• back hip circle
LEVEL 4 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BEAM
• cartwheel
• split leap to 120 degrees
• handstand
• split jump to 120 degrees
• cartwheel to side handstand, 1/4 turn dismount
LEVEL 4 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: FLOOR
• straddle jump with 120 degree split
• front handspring to two feet
• back extension roll
• back walkover
• round-off back-handspring back-handspring*
Once a gymnast can perform all of these skills and she has learned the Level 4 gymnastics compulsory routines, she is ready to compete in a Level 4 meet. After passing out of level 4, gymnasts move on to Level 5.

LEVEL 5 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: VAULT

• cast to above horizontal
• clear hip to above horizontal
• back sole circle to clear front support or back stalder circle to clear front support

LEVEL 5 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BEAM
• back walkover or back extension roll or backhandspring step out*
• straight leg leap to 150 degrees
• split jump
• sissonne
• cartwheel to side handstand, 1/4 turn dismount
LEVEL 5 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: FLOOR
• straddle jump
• stretch jump with full turn
• front handspring step out, front handspring to two feet*
• front tuck*
• split leap (150 degrees)
• full turn
• round-off back handspring back tuck*
Once a gymnast can perform all of these skills and she has learned the Level 5 gymnastics compulsory routines, she is ready to compete in a Level 5 meet. And once she successfully completes Level 5, she can move on to learning Level 6 skills.

LEVEL 6 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: VAULT
• front handspring
LEVEL 6 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BARS
• cast to minimum of horizontal
• 1 bar change
• one 360 degree circling element that is one of the following: underswing, clear hip circle, stalder circle or hecht
• min “A” dismount
LEVEL 6 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BEAM
• 1 acro element that starts and finishes on the beam
• 1 leap or jump requiring 180 degree split
• 360 degree turn on one foot
• min of “A” dismount”
LEVEL 6 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: FLOOR
• 1 Acro Series with a minimum of 3 directly connected flight elements with or without hand support
• 1 Salto or Aerial acro element
• Dance passage with minimum of 2 different leaps, jumps, hops- 1 must be a 180 degree split
• 360 degree turn on one foot
Once a gymnast can perform routines that meet all these level 6 requirements, and she has passed out of level 5, she may compete in a level 6 meet. Level 6 may be skipped if a 31 AA was scored at Level 5. After successfully completing level 6, she can move on to level 7.
LEVEL 7 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: VAULT
• front handspring
LEVEL 7 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BARS
• 1 cast- minimum of 45 degrees from vertical* (Learn how to do a cast handstand)
• 2 360 degree clear circling elements–they can be the same or different (an example of this would be a clear hip or a giant)
• one of the clear circling elements must be a “B” valued element*
• salto or hecht dismount, minimum “A” value.
LEVEL 7 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BEAM
• an acro series with a minimum of two elements (ex. backwalkover, backhandspring)
• one acro flight element (this can be included in the series) (this could be the backhandspring in the previous example)*
• one leap/jump requiring 180 degree split
• 360 degree turn on one foot
• aerial or salto dismount that is at least an “A” element
LEVEL 7 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: FLOOR
• one acro series ( 3 or more flight elements) which includes a back layout (back salto stretched to two feet–this basically means a back flip in the straight position)-this could be round-off back-handspring back-layout*
• a direct connection of two or more forward acro elements with flight (one element must be a salto or an aerial)–this could be front handspring-front tuck*
• dance passage with minimum of two different elements one a leap with 180 degree split
• 360 degree turn on one foot
Once a gymnast can perform all of these skills and she has passed out of level 6 she can compete in a Level 7 meet. And after successfully completing level 7, she can compete level 8.
LEVEL 8 VAULT REQUIREMENT
Level 8 gymnasts must perform a minimum of a front handspring vault.
LEVEL 8 BARS REQUIREMENTS
Level 8 gymnasts must have the following in their bar routine:
• Minimum of 1 Bar Change
• 1 Element (minimum of “B”) with flight (the mount is ok) or turn (cannot be the mount or dismount)
• 1 Element (minimum of “B”) which is from one of the following groups of elements: underswings, clear hip circles, stalder circles, circle swings or hechts
• A Salto or hecht dismount which is a minimum of “A” value
LEVEL 8 BEAM REQUIREMENTS
Level 8 gymnasts must have the following in their beam routine:
• Minimum of 1/1 (360 degree) turn on one foot
• Acro series with 2 elements, one must have flight (Both of the skills must start and finish on the beam)
• One jump/leap that reaches a 180 degree angle split (can be included in dance series)
• Aerial or Salto Dismount (minimum of “A” value)
LEVEL 8 FLOOR REQUIREMENTS
Level 8 gymnasts must have the following in their floor routine:
• One Acro Series with 2 saltos or 2 directly connected saltos (the saltos can be the same or different)- An example would be front tuck- round off– back handspring– back tuck
• Three different saltos (can be isolated or in a series)
• A dance passage with a minimum of two different leaps, jumps or hops, one of which is a leap with a 180 degree cross or side split–they can be directly or indirectly connected
• The last isolated salto or last salto connection must have at least an “A” valued salto element (A front or back tuck is an “A” valued salto)

LEVEL 9 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: VAULT
• A vault from the Level 9 Vault Chart
LEVEL 9 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BARS
• Minimum of 2 Bar Changes
• One flight element that is a minimum of “B” value (excluding the dismount)- an example would be a straddle back
• A second different flight element that is a mimimum of “C” value (excluding the dismount) or one element with a longitudinal-axis turn of 180°with minimum of “C” value (excluding the mount and dismount)- an example would be a giant circle backward to a 180° turn in handstand
• A minimum of “B” valued salto or hecht dismount- an example would be a flyway with 360° twist
LEVEL 9 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BEAM
• One Acro Series with a minimum of 2 flight elements (excludes the mount and dismount) – an example would be back handspring, back layout step out
• One leap or jump with an 180° split
• Minimum of 360° turn on one foot
• Aerial or Salto dismount, skill must be a minimum of “B” value – an example would be a front layout dismount
LEVEL 9 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: FLOOR
• One acro series with 2 saltos or 2 directly-connected saltos (can be the same or different)- an example would be front tuck- round-off– back handspring – back layout
• Three different saltos within the floor routine
• Dance passage with a minimum of 2 different leaps, jumps or hops, one of which has a 180° split
• The last salto in the routine must be at least a “B” valued salto- an example would be the last salto being a back layout full.
Once a gymnast has successfully scored a 34 All-Around at Level 9, she may move on to Level 10.
LEVEL 10 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: VAULT
• A vault from the Level 10 Vault Chart
LEVEL 10 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BARS
• One flight element that is a minimum of “C” value (excluding the dismount)
• A second different flight element that is a mimimum of “B” value (excluding the dismount)
• One element with a longitudinal-axis turn that is a minimum of “C” value (excluding the mount and dismount)
• A minimum of “C” valued salto or hecht dismount
LEVEL 10 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: BEAM
• One Acro Series with a minimum of 2 flight elements, either one element must be a minimum of “C” or the series can be an “A” non-flight acro element directly connected to an “E” flight element (excludes the mount and dismount)
• One leap or jump with an 180° split
• Minimum of 360° turn on one foot
• Aerial or Salto dismount, skill must either be a minimum of “C” value, or a “B” dismount that is directly connected to an acro series that includes a “C” element or connected to a “C” valued acro or dance element
LEVEL 10 GYMNASTICS REQUIREMENTS: FLOOR
• One acro series with 2 saltos or 2 directly-connected saltos (can be the same or different)
• Three different saltos within the floor routine
• Dance passage with a minimum of 2 different leaps, jumps or hops, one of which has a 180° split
• The last salto in the routine must be at least a “C” valued salto
